Nearly a thousand people are deported to Mexico every day; about half to Tijuana. Separated from family and friends left behind in the States, people struggle to make a new life in a country where they are unwanted and alone. Since many arrive in Mexico without documentation, they are unable to earn any income. Many end up living on the streets. They often wind up injured, sick, or on drugs (or all three).

The Godwin's planted a church that serves many deported men and women like these. Under their leadership, Hope Chapel Rosarito is becoming a multi-faceted ministry that works to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the surrounding community. The Godwins also lead multiple outreaches annually to minister in the nearby colonia of Vista Marina, where they pioneered another (Spanish-speaking) congregation in 2009.
